Treatment FAQ's
THREADING
*When is threading unsuitable?
Threading is by far the safest method of hair removal. It does not use harsh chemicals and over time will weaken the hair follicle, resulting in finer hair growing in it's place.
However, it is not suitable if you have:
- Rashes, Sunburn, dermatitis or inflamed skin
- Active cold sores
- Open skin lesions
- You have recently had treatments such as microdermabrasion or a chemical peel
- Active skin lesions
- Areas you want threaded have eczema or psoriasis on them
- been taking skin thinning/ weakening medication such as treatments for Acne
*Why is threading so inexpensive?
Good question, and my answer is; I have no idea!
Threading is a skill; an art which takes years to perfect.
Be aware that with its ever increasing popularity, more and more salons are now offering threading by aestheticians who have all but 5 minutes experience! Always ask how long they have been practicing the art before being lured in by the price!
*My skin is very sensitive, can I still have threading?
Ofcourse! Unless you suffer from any of the conditions above.I always ask new clients about their skin before treatment begins.
Reddening is very common but often fades and I always provide written aftercare advice
*Does Threading hurt?
Like any form of hair removal, it's never a pleasant experience. I always try to relax my clients and have found through my years of experience, that this often means clients find threading less painful.
Pain is also relative, so just because your best friend found it unbearable, it does not mean it would be the same for you! The only way to know for sure is to try it and see for yourself.
*I over-plucked my eyebrows when I was younger - can you help me grow them back?
I cannot promise miracles, however, I have worked with many clients in this predicament with alot of success.
I would always be honest with you and request your full corporation. Most importantly you must be willing to give it some time!
*I am worried about hygiene...
I can only speak for myself on this matter. Not only do I wash and sanitize my hands after every client, I keep my thread in a pouch; taking out just the portion I am to use. This way it keeps the rest of the reel clean. The threading thread I use, is a specialist thread which has been treated with antibacterial agent.
*If I keep having threading, will the hair stop growing on those areas all together?
This is dependent on the individual. In my experience, regular threading on any area will result in finer and even patchier hair growth after some time. So it is definitely worth persevering with.
*I am pregnant - can I still have threading?
Ofcourse! I only ask that you let me know as I use a beauty couch rather than a chair for threading.
